Oops

This is just a quick little update to let you know I haven't forgotten about this blog. My complete lack of posting lately is due to the fact that I am clumsy and somehow managed to shut my digital camera in a car door. I swear, I'm so accident-prone -- it's a miracle I have lived this long.

I am saving up funds for a replacement camera now, and posting will resume some time soon.

Happy new year to you all! Tonight I am seeing Against Me! at the Masquerade in Atlanta for the third time in three years. I cannot wait.

Ragnarok

This silly outfit was all based on the fact that I really wanted to wear these furry boots. Say what you will about furry boots, but these are warm and comfy and I love them. The fact that I stole them from an ex-boyfriend who wore them to a Viking-themed party only makes me love them even more. (Jesse, if you ever see this blog, I'm sorry, but I couldn't resist. I really like these boots, OK?)

Eddie Bauer sweater was a gift from Addison's mom. Addison's plaid shirt. Thrifted animal-print cardigan. Miley Cyrus/Max Azria dress was a gift from my mom. Rue 21 tights. Stolen boots.

Courtney recently sent me a wonderful package, which included this Log Lady pin! Thank you, Courtney! The package was a nice surprise, and I'm glad this adorable little Log Lady is part of my Twin Peaks collection now.

Eat Your Cancer

I feel like you could turn this blog into a game where you have to spot the pets in the background of my photos. Samus is the fluffy cat on the porch. We look a lot alike, don't we? We have the same hair and black lips.

Old American Eagle hat. Walmart sunglasses. Rue 21 jacket and jeans. Addison's plaid shirt. Thrifted cardigan. Pixies tshirt. Found belt. Converse shoes.

I felt like being warm and channeling Kurt Cobain in this outfit. He will always be a source of fashion inspiration to me. I like how he usually looked like he just grabbed whatever was on the floor of his bedroom and put in on, yet the end results were always so cool. Nobody else could just throw on a bunch of layers with different patterns, some ratty sneakers, and some worn-out jeans and look as amazing as he did.

Tunnel Snakes Rule

It's too damn cold outside for chainsmokers like me. And Addison says when I wear boots with cuffed jeans like this, I look like a tunnel snake. I consider that a compliment, though. Tunnel snakes rule.

Rue 21 jacket, jeans, and socks. Thrifted black shirt and boots. Wal-mart plaid dress. Pixies t-shirt. Ancient hat from American Eagle. Scarf was made by my mom.

Burn the Witches

Rue 21 hairbow; Fantasy Makers black lipstick; Dollar Tree skeleton necklace; vintage USMC shirt; thrifted black shirt and boots; Heritage 1981 dress.

I wore this outfit a few days ago, when I went to Chattanooga with Addison and Brett. We stopped by McKay, which is this amazing store that sells used books, movies, video games, CD's, and records; the store also has bins outside for rejected books, and people are allowed to take as many of those books as they want, for FREE. So, the three of us stocked up on free books, which came in handy when we had a bonfire in our backyard Saturday night.

I've never told you guys about my roommates before, but they are some of my favorite people ever, so I'll tell you a little about them now. I live in a four-bedroom house (where Addison and Brett's parents used to live, before they bought another house and moved out of this one) with four guys: Addison, Brett, Willie, and Steve. They are all a lot of fun to have around. We might even do a Secret Santa kind of thing for Christmas!

Polaroids

I looked through my old Polaroid collection and thought it might be fun to share some pictures of my style transformations over the years.

Above you can see that I was a pretty damn cool kid. Look at me rocking that red nightgown! (I called it my "Mrs. Claus dress.") You can also see that I got to meet my idol Barney (although I remember being so pissed off because he was the wrong shade of purple). And I really wish I still had that Batman tshirt and that dino sweater (in my size, of course; I don't think those exact articles of clothing would fit me anymore).

This is me at age 17. I wish I still had this Smiths shirt, too, but I wore it until it got holes in it. Don't ask me why I was wearing two belts, I still don't know the answer to that.

Here I am at age 20, in Charlotte, NC. I covered this dude's face because I'm not sure how he would feel about the fact that there is photographic evidence of us together. Having short hair is fun and cuts shower time in half.

And since I'm being nostalgic, this dress is what I wore to my senior prom five years ago.

Rue 21 jacket. Ancient hoodie and tights. Thrifted button-up shirt. Jessica McClintock dress.

The Room

Addison and I moved from the basement to a room upstairs (which is much warmer and cozier), so I thought I would share some pictures of our new room. Enlarge to see more detail.

After taking this picture of me, Addison said, "Here is your shoegaze album cover, courtesy of your drunk photographer."

Rue 21 jacket and skirt. Ancient hoodie. Thrifted bow shirt. Wal-mart boots.

Geeks Do Not Have Pedigrees

I have no clue what we were looking at here.

The weather outside today was perfect for playing fetch with Chewey, even though he isn't very good at that game. He tends to look in the wrong place for the stick, then get distracted and run back to me like he's expecting me to throw something else for him. Silly dog. He should stick to what he's good at, like dancing and doing flips. Maybe fetch is just too basic for him.

Thrifted cardigan and shorts. Rue 21 hairbow, shirt, and tights. Wal-mart boots.

Zombie Walk Revisited

Here are a few more photos from Chattanooga Zombie Walk on Saturday.

Don't mind Ginger, she's just licking herself, that's all.

Zombie Walk

Occupy Chattanooga . . . with ZOMBIES.

enlarge for more detail

my darling boyfriend

Today Addison, his brothers Brett and Christopher, our friend Steve, and I all went to Zombie Walk in Chattanooga. Roaming around downtown Chattanooga with a bunch of strangers dressed as zombies was probably the most fun I've ever had. Unsuspecting passersby laughed, took pictures, and/or screamed and hid their children as we passed. Brett (in the top hat in the first picture) was hilariously in character, and everyone's costumes were great. Zombie Walk might not be a movement like SlutWalk or Occupy Wall Street, but I still think we made a difference in people's lives today.

DIY shirt. Thifted skirt. Wal-Mart Halloween tights and boots. Dollar Tree necklace. Rue 21 hairbow and bra.

Addison's full costume and his shirt drying in the sun.

"Heineken?! Fuck that shit! Pabst! Blue! Ribbon!"

Addison took these pictures of me (because I told him he had to if he wanted me to give him a cigarette) in our bedroom. I really like these red curtains.

Rue 21 jacket. Ancient hoodie. Batman pins were a gift from my dad. T-shirt was stolen from a friend who stole it from her sister. Thrifted skirt. Hard Candy "Night Out" lipstick. Pabst Blue Ribbon.

The Owls Are Not What They Seem

This is what I wore on my birthday, which I celebrated by getting an anchovy pizza at Rafael's. (Rafael's is this amazing pizza joint that has BUY ONE GET ONE FREE PIZZAS. So even though Addison is one of those weird people who thinks anchovies are gross, he still got to get in on some pizza action with me.)

This dress is one of my favorite thrift finds ever. It's really comfy and soft and a bit witchy. I'm crazy about it.

Rue 21 jacket. Thrifted dress. Vintage necklace. Wal-mart boots.

Oh, and I got a tattoo for my birthday, too.
It's the symbol from the Owl Cave on Twin Peaks. It was done by Rick at Body Art Ink in Dalton, GA. He did two of the other tattoos I have, as well. He's the sweetest guy in the world, and he does good work.
