Have you seen the bridge?

Last night was fun.

Shirt and jeans from Rue 21. Boots from Wal-Mart. I found the bandana at school a few years ago.

Addison, Kevin, and I raced against time and managed to buy a bottle of white zinfandel and a 12-pack of PBR before Wal-Mart quit selling booze for the night. We took the drinks over to Denise's place.

We all walked down to this creek together and hung out on an old bridge. It was nice.

I didn't go to sleep until after 6 AM this morning, but that's ok because LQ, Kevin, and I went to Panera Bread for breakfast around 5 PM today. I got a cinnamon crunch bagel with hazelnut spread, and all was right in the world.

I Am the Arm

I had a pretty good weekend. On Friday night, my boyfriend Addison and I watched Fire Walk With Me, the Twin Peaks movie.

I liked the film, but it wasn't as mind-blowingly amazing as I was hoping it would be. Then again, maybe I was just disappointed because there was no Deputy Andy in the film. And Moira Kelly is just too adorable to be Donna.

The other Donna

On Saturday night, my friend Kevin invited Addison and me to go to a field party with him. I got ready by drinking a beer, applying some lipstick, and putting on an outfit that felt "field party-ish" to me.

Let's pretend this photo is "artistic" instead of really fucking blurry, okay?

the "I don't know what to do with my face in photos, so I'll just play with my hair" pose
Shirt and jeans from Rue 21. Hoodie from the boys' department at Wal-Mart. Thrifted boots. Belt found after a party at my old apartment (thanks, original, forgetful owner!).

Turns out, we never made it to the field party. Josh and Joe were following us in a hybrid Saturn that died unexpectedly on the side of a road way out in the middle of nowhere (where this party was supposed to take place). Since none of us knew anything about hybrids, we just sat around and talked and listened to creepy nature sounds, thinking that if we left the car alone for a while, it would magically fix itself. After realizing this plan was not going to work at all, Josh called his friend Tad, who brought jumper cables and saved the day. At this point, it was 3:30 in the morning, so we just went home. The night was actually a lot more fun than it sounds though. And Kevin told me today that he heard the field party got busted, so I think it's good that we didn't attend.

Sunday night was spent watching Dead Alive and drinking cheap beer.

Dead Alive is one of the best movies I've seen in a while. It's funny, disgusting, and just an overall good time. (It's full of cute clothes, too; I love the dresses in this picture.) Campy, funny horror movies are my favorites; those with zombies are even better. Other zombie flicks I would recommend: Fido and Zombie Strippers.

Isn't it cute how the can kind of matches my nails?
This is the beer Addison got from Walgreen's -- it's only $3.99 for a six-pack. It's not exactly delicious, but hey: it's cheap, and it comes in a pretty can.

So that's how my weekend went. Now it's Monday, and I need to do productive shit like clean and finish up some library books. Ah, well.

How was yr weekend?

Friday Favorites

Some of my favorite things this week:

Sinful Colors Professional in Why Not
I am really impressed with Sinful Colors Professional nail polish. It's only $1.99 at Walgreens, it comes in so many amazing colors, and it works better than most other brands of nail polish I have tried. It's vibrant and doesn't chip easily and is surprisingly shiny, too. I want a bottle of every color!

Summer is coming, and I think I need some strappy sandals. These wedges are perfect!

I have been just a bit obsessed with Twin Peaks lately. This lovely collection of ten pins (for only $5!) would be the perfect way to carry a little piece of this wonderful show around with me every day.

And here are some links to check out this weekend:
  • Bake List is my favorite food blog ever. This girl has incredible recipes for everything from Brussels sprouts salad to chocolate-malt cake, and her photography is great, too.
  • Abby Try Again is a delightful photo blog full of vivid, dreamy images.
  • The Style Rookie is just the coolest kid in the world. I wish she was my little sister so we could have My So-Called Life marathons and shop at Salvation Army together.
That's all for now. Have a great weekend!

Friday the 13th

My boyfriend and I had our two-year anniversary on Friday the 13th. I wanted to get all dolled up since we were going to eat at a swanky restaurant.

Plaid shirt and dress from Wal-Mart. Pixies T-shirt. Thrifted boots. Glasses from Wal-Mart. Vintage necklace.

These boots are my favorite boots in the whole wide world. They only cost $2.99, they fit me perfectly, and they make me feel like a Spice Girl from space (which, in case you didn't know, is a pretty awesome way to feel).

For dinner, we went to J. Alexander's. The place felt a little too "Patrick Bateman" for me, but the white chocolate cheesecake with raspberry sauce was amazing.

I told my boyfriend, "I want to have this cheesecake's babies and then eat those babies. But don't be jealous or anything." He understood completely.

We finished our anniversary-slash-Friday the 13th off by drinking bloody Marys and watching Dune at home. Not a bad night at all.
